International mechanical engineering firm Atlantic Projects Company has expanded into Derby, making the city its UK base.
Headquartered in Dublin, Atlantic Projects Company is a leading provider of construction and technical services for power generation, oil and gas, process and industrial customers worldwide.
Formed in 1973 by General Electric, Atlantic Projects is now a subsidiary of Argan Inc, and has offices in New York and Hong Kong.
Derby’s central location and its pool of engineering talent were the main factors behind the company’s decision to expand into the city.
Brian Sherras, director of Atlantic Projects Company, said: “We needed a place with a good base of engineering industries, to ensure there would be a pool of talent to support our business, and Derby has that.
“The other reason we came here is because of the geography. Derby is a great location if you’re working all over the United Kingdom because it’s easy to get anywhere”.
