Wates Construction has strengthened its senior leadership team in the Midlands with the appointment of Lisa Cunningham as Preconstruction Director.
Lisa’s appointment is seeing her rise rapidly through the ranks at Wates, having previously held the position of Preconstruction Manager for less than a year. Prior to that Lisa held the role of Key Account Manager.
Responsible for driving the company’s ambitious growth plans in the Midlands, Lisa has played a key role in Wates’ considerable growth in the region in the past 12 months. Recent successes include the contractor’s appointment to build phase one of the multimillion pound Axis Square development in Birmingham city centre and its delivery of the new City Hub campus for Nottingham College.
Lisa is one of a number of senior women in Wates’ workforce in the Midlands, working alongside Sheila Quinn, Project Surveyor and Justine Doody, Project Estimator on Axis Square and Anika Delves, Planner and Laura Palmer, Project Surveyor on The Bank, a high rise residential development on Broad Street in Birmingham.
Lisa commented: “This is a really important time for Wates in the Midlands as we capitalise upon our increasing reputation as the contractor of choice, so I’m extremely proud to be part of the team driving our continued growth forward.
“I’m delighted to be continuing my career with Wates Construction, and I’m determined to prove that if you work hard and seize new challenges, there are no barriers to professional success.”
John Carlin, Regional Managing Director of Wates Construction Midlands, commented: “Lisa’s unrelenting work ethic and impressive knowledge of the market place perfectly places her to drive forward our growth over the coming months and years.
“Lisa’s appointment reflects our determination to recognise and recruit the most talented and ambitious people to lead our business. It is a huge privilege to promote Lisa to the role of Preconstruction Director and retain her as part of our dynamic team here in the Midlands.”
