Tom Copson has joined Rowleys, the independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors based in Leicester.
Tom was previously a Director at Grant Thornton, one of the UK’s largest accountancy practices. It was a role that allowed Tom to develop a reputation for helping both national and international ‘mid-market’ businesses.
Despite spending 14 years at Grant Thornton, Tom is no stranger to Rowleys. He spent 5 years at the firm during his early years in the profession.
“Rowleys has always enjoyed a fantastic reputation for high quality work and good client service so, when I decided my long term future lay with a more independent firm, they were the firm I wanted to talk to,” said Tom.
“I felt that I could add value to the firm with my experience and give a more improved offering to those private mid-market businesses I enjoy working with in the East Midlands. It was a real meeting of minds when the team at Rowleys were also looking at how they might invest more in their offering into this market. From there accepting the invitation to join them was just a formality.”
Robert Radford, Rowleys’ Managing Director, said: “While it’s always fantastic to welcome someone to the team who so obviously shares our vision, Tom’s appointment is also an extremely timely one. Increased regulatory scrutiny and the push for more competition in the Big 4 audit market is pushing many of the national firms into that market and away from mid-sized clients.
“This has left a gap in the market. Tom’s arrival will allow us to offer mid-market businesses all of the experience they need and deliver it with the level of service they want.”
