Rothera Sharp expands transport team with three appointments

Rothera Sharp has expanded its transport law team with the appointment of solicitor Chris Powell and paralegals Jasmine Jackson and Beth Clayton.

As a road transport solicitor Chris deals with a wide range of transport regulatory law matters. His experience includes advising and representing haulage and PSV operator licence holders across the UK and Europe in regards to Public Inquiries before the Traffic Commissioner, Operator licence regulatory compliance and driver conduct hearings, amongst other areas. He also has particular experience in acting for large European hauliers and transport undertakings on cross border matters.

Chris said of his appointment: “As a road transport solicitor, I am very excited to be working for a firm with such a strong and longstanding reputation for excellence in this area.  Rothera Sharp has decades of experience advising and representing transport businesses on regulatory road transport and compliance matters. I look forward to contributing to the team.”

In addition to Chris, the department has also recently welcomed paralegals Jasmine Jackson and Beth Clayton, who deal with motoring offence cases including giving initial legal advice, assisting with the preparation of court cases and liaising with the courts and clients. Jasmine’s previous experience includes insurance and public risk cases and family law. She is currently studying part-time for the LLM Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Trent University alongside her role. Beth has previously worked in property law and medical negligence and as of September 2019 will also be undertaking her LLM Legal Practice Course in addition to her role within the department.

Anton Balkitis, Head of Transport at Rothera Sharp said: “We are delighted to welcome Chris, Jasmine and Beth to the team. Chris is a very talented and capable transport lawyer and we know he will do an excellent job of growing and promoting Rothera Sharp’s transport department, whilst Jasmine and Beth have hit the ground running in terms of their professionalism and providing excellent customer service to clients.”
