Richard Brooke has been named as the new regional chair for CBI East Midlands. He succeeds David Bell, who is also chief corporate development officer at JCB.
A qualified accountant and a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Management Accountants, Mr Brooke has spent the past 25 years working in the housebuilding industry, most recently as Regional managing director East for Barratt Developments.
Commenting on the new post, Brooke said: “I am delighted to be taking up the role and look forward to working with senior business leaders to ensure we reflect the region’s main priorities for both national and regional policy.
“I am particularly interested in the infrastructure, housing and skills agenda and I look forward to bringing my personal experience and commitment to this important role.”
Sarah Wood, CBI East Midlands assistant director, added: “Richard will bring a great wealth of experience to the role and represents a strong voice for the construction sector, which is particularly important to our region.
“As we continue to sustain growth in this region, Richard’s experience will be invaluable in producing the best results for our world-class businesses across many sectors in the East Midlands.”
She continued: “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank David Bell for his tremendous efforts and commitment to the CBI in the East Midlands. David has provided clear direction and represented the region strongly at the CBI’s national chairman’s committee.”
