The Nottingham office of global translations provider EVS Translations has boosted its specialist proofreading team with the appointment of Ciaran Page, a former legal linguist to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
Ciaran joins the inhouse team of linguists based at the Nottingham office, part of a 16 strong group across the business, which also has offices in the USA, Bulgaria, Spain and three in Germany, where it was founded in 1991 by Edward R. Vick.
Today, EVS Translations is an internationally leading translation company and employs more than 150 people, 80 of which work as translators at one of their five global locations.
It is a leading provider of certified language services to most of the global top 20 law firms, regulatory, government and public sector bodies; as well as to the legal departments of Fortune 500 corporations. Recent demand for its services in the legal market has seen that area grow by over 30 percent, with EVS keen to recruit a high calibre individual to work with the proofreading team.
These specialists check the target language against the source text to guarantee both technical and linguistic accuracy, while ensuring that correct and consistent terminology has been used throughout the document.
Ciaran Page worked at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg for 5 years on a wide variety of high profile and complex cases, including the 2014 directive on tobacco products.
He studied European Law at the University of Warwick and the Universität des Saarlandes, Saarbrücken (Germany), has an MA in translation from the University of Bristol and can translate from German, French and Lithuanian. His expertise and experience have been welcomed by EVS founder Edward R. Vick: “We are delighted to welcome Ciaran to the EVS Translations team. He has the kind of experience and breadth of knowledge that we and our clients demand and is a talented proofreader with an exceptional eye for detail as well as fantastic linguistic skills.
“His background in European Law is also vital with that market very buoyant for us. It is a service offering that we will be continuing to develop and grow and I look forward to Ciaran playing his part in that.”
Ciaran added: “I am very proud to be joining a global business at the cutting edge of translations services and a team that has a reputation for excellence in the legal sector here at the Nottingham office. I cannot wait to get started and to bring my own experience to bear on our offering to innovative, forward-thinking law firms across the UK.”
