Breedon appoints new independent non-executive director as co-founder retires

Leicestershire-based Breedon Group, the construction materials group, has appointed Moni Mannings as an independent non-executive director with effect from 1 December 2019.

Moni has held several senior non-executive positions, including as a Board Member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, non-executive director of Dairy Crest Group PLC and non-executive director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee of Polypipe Group PLC. She is currently Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee of Investec Bank PLC.

Moni is a former Partner and Head of the International Banking & Finance Division of Olswang LLP, prior to which she held senior positions with Dewey Ballantine LLP and Simmons & Simmons. More recently, she was Chief Operating Officer of Aistemos Ltd, a leading IP data analytics and strategy company.

Having served on the Board of Breedon since its creation in 2008, David Williams, co-founder, will retire as a director on 31 December 2019. It is anticipated that Moni will succeed him as Chair of Breedon’s Remuneration Committee upon his retirement.

David Williams said: “Having served as a non-executive director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee since co-founding the company in 2008, I believe the time is now right to step down from the Board in accordance with best governance practice. I will therefore retire as a director at the end of this year.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to serve on Breedon’s Board for the last 11 years and as I take my leave I am delighted that the company has attracted two such outstanding new non-executive directors in Moni Mannings and Clive Watson. I wish the company and its staff every success in the future.”
