More than 200 business leaders from across the region are set to discuss a wide range of employee wellbeing topics when they attend the East Midlands Wellbeing @ Work summit being held at Derby County’s Pride Park stadium on Wednesday 16th January.

The summit, which is being hosted by leading health & wellbeing experts, Unlimited Wellbeing in partnership with Derby County, aims to explore the current challenges employers face relating to employee wellbeing and the opportunities that these challenges offer.

Some of the East Midlands’ largest employers will hear about a broad range of topics including risks posed by poor physical health and lifestyles as well as debate about the increasing need to support employee mental health and psychological wellbeing.

Unlimited Wellbeing COO Dave Leverton says that employers are faced with a number of diverse challenges in the modern workplace with the productivity of UK employees reported to be over 20% less than workers in other G7 nations. “The UK has an ageing workforce, the highest levels of obesity in Europe and a relatively high proportion of smokers,” said Dave.

“On average every employee costs their employer over £550 each year through absence from work which in turn costs industry over £14 billion. This figure looks set to increase further as we see more and more people being affected by problems relating to issues such as anxiety and work related stress The summit aims to really understand these metrics and help employers to find workable, sustainable and affordable long term solutions.”
