New partnership reshapes Nottinghamshire’s facilities and catering services

A new joint venture is reshaping how facilities and catering services are delivered across Nottinghamshire. Vertas Nottinghamshire Limited, created in September through a partnership between Nottinghamshire County Council and facilities management firm Vertas, has taken on responsibility for cleaning, caretaking, catering, and grounds maintenance for organisations across the county.

The venture now supports more than 230 schools, academies, businesses, and care homes. Around 1,700 council employees have transferred into the new operation, expanding Vertas’ presence in the East Midlands and strengthening its capacity to manage large-scale service provision.

The partnership includes plans to grow local employment, offer apprenticeships, and develop long-term career pathways in facilities and catering. It also aims to increase local supply chain use and reduce environmental impact as part of its broader community commitments.

Ian Surtees MBA, FIoD, Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vertas Group, said: “This partnership marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of public service delivery. We’re proud to expand our presence in Nottinghamshire and bring our approach to a region that shares our values. With Vertas beginning this exciting journey, we remain committed to maintaining strong relationships with our existing clients and continuing to build on these partnerships across the region. Together, we’re creating a service that’s not only efficient and sustainable but connected to the communities it serves.”

With Vertas now operating as headline sponsor for the 2025/26 East Midlands Chamber Business Awards, the organisation’s role in the county is set to grow across both business and community sectors.
