Steakhouse chain secured after sale out of administration

Middletons Steakhouse & Grill will continue operating across all seven of its sites after Gastro Pubs Limited was sold out of administration in mid-November. The deal preserves 159 roles and keeps venues open in Chelmsford, Colchester, King’s Lynn, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Norwich, and Peterborough.

Interpath advisers Tim Bateson and James Clark were appointed joint administrators on 14 November 2025. The business had faced sustained pressure from higher ingredient costs, increased wage demands, and weaker customer spending. Directors explored sale, investment, and restructuring options, though no solvent route emerged.

The joint administrators have now completed a sale of the business and assets to a new entity backed by Middletons’ existing shareholders. The transaction secures ongoing trading for the group and stability for its workforce across the Midlands and East of England.

Tim Bateson, director at Interpath and joint administrator, said: “Hospitality businesses up and down the country continue to battle hard in the face of strong trading headwinds. Whilst these challenges proved insurmountable for Gastro Pubs Limited, we are pleased to have concluded this transaction which will allow the Company’s seven Middletons Steakhouse & Grill restaurants to continue trading, preserving the jobs of their loyal staff.”
