Broxtowe Borough Council has launched the Broxtowe Skills and Training Fund, offering grants to help residents and small businesses gain new skills and qualifications.
Funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the scheme aims to strengthen Broxtowe’s workforce by supporting upskilling, retraining and professional development opportunities, through the removal of financial barriers that might otherwise prevent residents and small business owners having access.
Grants of up to £1,000 per person will be available to Broxtowe residents not currently in employment or full time education, covering up to 100% of course fees to boost their chances in the job market.
Small businesses, with between 1 and 30 staff and annual turnover of less than £2 million, will be able to apply for grants of up to £2,500 to train staff with a maximum of £1,000 per staff member for up to 3 employees. Businesses will also be required to contribute a minimum of 30% match funding towards total training costs.
Funding can be used for a wide range of accredited short courses to develop sector specific skills, enhance professional development, gain technical and vocational qualifications that improve employability, or for essential workforce development such as digital or green skills.
Applications for the Broxtowe Skills and Training Fund are now open. Applications will close at 5:00pm on Sunday 7 December 2025. Training courses must be completed by 28 February 2026.
