Former pub to be demolished in Nottingham to make way for student accommodation

Plans to demolish a former pub on Nottingham’s Lower Parliament Street to make way for student accommodation have been approved.

The currently unoccupied site was previously home to the Nottingham Legend Pub which ceased trading in June 2023.

East India Properties Limited is behind the scheme which proposes a six-storey development featuring 59 cluster and studio apartments.

A design statement submitted by Franklin Ellis Architects on behalf of the project applicant said: “The proposed scheme has been developed to provide a high quality, contemporary, purpose-built student accommodation scheme. The development of the proposed scheme is designed to make a positive architectural contribution to the immediate streetscape, in line with the regeneration of the wider area.”

Planning permission was granted in October 2021 for a five storey student accommodation scheme comprising of 40 student studios, but this scheme was never realised.
