Phenna Group acquires Irish materials testing and geotechnical services firm

Nottingham-headquartered Phenna Group, which invests in and partners with independent Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance (TICC) companies, has acquired Testall, a provider of materials testing and geotechnical services based in Ireland.

This acquisition represents Phenna’s 21st deal in 2025 and the 23rd company to join its Infrastructure Division.

Testall will become part of Simtec, Phenna’s specialist materials testing business, building on a year of strong growth that has seen new locations opened in London and East Anglia alongside the add-on acquisition of CTS Ltd in Northern Ireland.

Damien Jordan and Gerry Carleton, directors of Testall Group, said: “We’re immensely proud of the journey Testall has taken and are sincerely grateful to our team and to our clients for the trust they have placed in us over the years.

“Joining Simtec and the wider Phenna Group marks a progressive transition for Testall —one that aligns with our shared values and a clear strategic vision.

“With our incorporation into Phenna Group’s network, our Construction Testing and Geology divisions are poised to benefit from enhanced support, collaboration and a broader reach while we remain committed to delivering the same high standards and service our customers expect across Ireland and the UK.”

Warwick Nuttall, managing director of Simtec, said: “We’re delighted to welcome the Testall team to Simtec. Their technical expertise and strong customer relationships make them a natural fit within our business.

“This acquisition extends our reach into Ireland and allows us to deliver our full suite of services more seamlessly across the UK and Ireland. I’m looking forward to working closely with the team as we continue to grow together.”

Stuart Abbs, divisional managing director of Phenna Group’s Infrastructure Division, added: “Testall is a great addition to our Infrastructure Division and complements our existing operations perfectly. Their well-earned reputation, skilled team, and established presence in Ireland further enhance our regional coverage and service capabilities.

“This move continues our strategy of building a strong, technically capable, and customer-focused network across the infrastructure sector.”

Phenna Group were advised by Johnson Carmichael and Browne Jacobson. Opes Wealth Trust advised Testall.
