Not that it’s ever simple in business, but wehave to contend with the enforcement date for GeneralData Protection Regulation (GDPR) on the 25th of May,and the promise of hefty fines behind it for those whodon’t prepare. By now, many will have already soughtadvice on GDPR already, but for those who haven’t thebeginning of May is a late reminder. That’s not to say it’s all bad news in business, however. Despite Brexit andthe continuous road blocks in any and all negotiation, trade has continued todo well and the property market has seen plenty of investment from overseas, bolstering it in key areas such as Nottingham and Derby. Our May issue looks at all of this and more, with a focus on thepharmaceuticals industry, and also a deep analysis of PPE in the health andsafety environment. Alongside that, we look at corporate hospitality and thebenefits of thinking out of the box when it comes to rewarding your staff. With our regular features, events and up-to-date news, this May issue is notone to be missed.Michael FisherEditorWelcome...ContentsMay 2018LATEST NEWS 6A round-up of the latest news from our regionAPPOINTMENTS 8East Midlands on the move.FINANCE NEWS 10The latest news from the world of finance around the regionMANUFACTURING NEWS12News and views from around the regionPROPERTY NEWS 14All the latest from the property sector.PHARMACEUTICAL SPOTLIGHT 16Our region has a fine pedigree for pharmaceuticals, withinnovative local companies across the East Midlands as well asregional branches of big global names.
