Platinum Homes has submitted a planning application to Leicester City Council for construction of eight and 11-storey flats block in Leicester’s Wharf Street South.
The scheme would see a total of 72 one and two-bedroom flats constructed together with four retail units, communal facilities and 15 car parking spaces.
A statement accompanying the plans states: “This is an opportunity to create housing for local people, create jobs and regeneration of a part of Leicester which has been neglected in the past.
“Currently, the buildings on site have been vacant for more than 10 years and are subject to vandalism and damage.
“This scheme will bring back the use of this brownfield land to crate stylish and contemporary homes for the people of Leicester.
“The proposed scheme will help regenerate the link between St Matthews and the city centre”
The council is to make a decision in coming weeks
