Bowmer & Kirkland lined up for huge Manchester student scheme

Student room developer Unite is understood to have B&K on board for 35 storey block

Belper-based Bowmer & Kirkland is set to be chosen by Unite to build a huge student accommodation scheme in Manchester, according to reports in Construction Enquirer.

Planning permission has been granted to Unite Students, the manager and developer of student accommodation, to build a £50m 573-bed property in Manchester city centre.

The consent takes Unite’s total development pipeline to be delivered in the next three years to 6,500 beds.

With the New Wakefield Street site close to both the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, it creates an area ideally suited for student accommodation.

Work is due to start on site in early 2018.
