Production of craft beer and real ale across the country is on the rise – with some 24 per cent increase in the number of specialist breweries during the past year according to research by a Nottingham accountancy firm.
James Simmonds, partner at UHY Hacker Young, has marked the rapid growth of the industry with a visit to client Nottingham Brewery.
He said: “Craft beers and real ales have seen a real renaissance in recent years, so it is no surprise that the number of microbreweries is on the up across the country. Nottingham’s brewing scene is really strong and it has really been embraced by the city.
“I was delighted to be given the opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at the work they do here, and try my hand while I was there. I recently got my own personal alcohol licence as I was keen to know more about the industry.
“There is a real appetite for real ale and it is fantastic to see the likes of Nottingham Brewery, as well as a number of other brewers across the county, doing so well.”
