Award-winning Peak District hotel, wedding venue, and restaurant, The Maynard, has raised over £5,000 in aid of its 2017 designated charity, Make-A-Wish UK.
Throughout the year, the company held various fundraising events with proceeds going to a fantastic charity which dedicates its time to granting wishes for children and young people who are fighting life-threatening conditions. In total, £5015.86 was raised by The Maynard and its customers, much to the delight of hotel staff and the charity.
The charity campaign began in March with a silent auction, where social followers privately bid an offer to win a voucher for dinner, bed and breakfast for one night, through The Maynard’s official Facebook page.
In April, over £450 was raised when The Maynard Head Chef, Mark Vernon, had his legs waxed by Nadine McNamara of Skin Station based in Hair Union, on Abbeydale Road South in Sheffield. An incredible £2685 was raised when a Ladies’ Fashion Show was held, sponsored by Sister – an independent boutique based on Ecclesall Road, also in Sheffield.
Various other small events were held in addition to the online Just Giving page, and the final fundraising event of the year was the Brass Band raffle, which raised a heart-warming £882.
“We’re delighted to have supported Make-A-Wish UK with a number of great fundraisers this year,” said Jane Hitchman, Director at The Maynard. “To raise such an incredible amount really shows the generosity and support of The Maynard’s loyal customers. We can’t thank our customers enough for their valuable contributions, no matter how small, and the overall benefit it will bring to ordinary families who are going through an unthinkable time,” Jane concluded.
