Rolls-Royce has hosted over 100 of the UK’s aerospace industry experts at the Midlands Aerospace Alliance’s annual conference, with delegates hearing from keynote speakers from Rolls-Royce and Airbus about future manufacturing technologies and supply chain growth.
Opening the event, Martin Rawson, Deputy Leader of Derby City Council, said: “Rolls-Royce was the first targeted inward investment in the UK, and today we are proud of the work we do to support growth and attract inward investment.”
The city’s Enterprise Zone, Infinity Park Derby, supported the MAA Conference with Marketing Derby to showcase the city’s aerospace sector credentials and the strength of its location for advanced manufacturing businesses.
The University of Derby also sponsored the event through its Enscite programme – a partnership between the University of Derby, Aston University and Derby City Council that supports businesses in aerospace, rail and automotive supply chains.
Angela Tooley, Head of Enscite said: “We are pleased to be working in collaboration with the Midlands Aerospace Alliance to support the industry and its wider supply chains across the Midlands.
“We are committed to supporting a thriving modern economy with the valuable links we offer to research, knowledge, expertise and talent. With a hands-on approach to innovation and skills development we deliver benefits to businesses across the Midlands Engine for Growth.”
