Leading Leicester brand agency celebrates anniversary and planning permission grant

The end of September holds a special place in the heart of father-son management duo, John and Matthew Hayes, at leading brand agency, Champions (UK) plc. The period not only marks an era of phenomenal success, but planning permission has also now been granted for a further 3,000-square foot extension, giving the brand agency an extra cause to celebrate.

Located in Costock on the Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire border, since it was launched from CEO’s John Hayes’ home back in 2003, Champions has gone on to establish itself as a major player in the industry, with clients including national and international brands.

It was back on 25 September 2009 when the Champions team were joined by Kenneth Clarke CH QC and Champions’ managed celebs, including legendary goalkeeper, Peter Shilton OBE and Coronation Street favourite William Roache MBE, to cut the ribbon on the newly converted 6,000-square foot barn.

Fast-forward just six years to 25 September 2015 and Ken Clarke was once again on ribbon cutting duty – this time formally opening a new 13,000-square foot extension to the converted barn which was packed with state-of-the-art facilities, including a new design studio, and space to accommodate the ever-expanding bank of staff.

The latest endeavour will see one of the agency invest around £750,000 in transforming an unused outbuildings transformed into a state-of-the-art digital and media suite, with work expected to begin mid next year.

The digital offering of Champions (UK) plc has seen significant change in recent years extending well beyond website design and construction. Offering the likes of social media management, SEO, mobile app design, outreach and much more, Champions are ensuring they are well positioned to meet all their clients’ digital demands.

Since 2009, Champions has seen unhindered growth and predicts a turnover of some £20 million in 2017. Focusing its offering around 10 areas, known as pillars within the firm, Champions offer a full suite of creative, marketing, advertising, media, publishing, digital, PR, events, celebrity management and web design services and clients are keen to take advantage of the depth and range of skills the talented pool of staff offer.

Always ahead of the curve, the latest addition to the Champions offering is Influencer Champions. Recognising the power social media icons have when it comes to brands, Influencer Champions expertly matches brands from all sectors with relevant social media influencers, utilising their captive audience to boost brands, increase awareness and ultimately drive sales.

However, as Managing Director, Matthew Hayes points out, their core services make Champions indispensable to their clients:

“Our clients know that whatever they need, we have the resources to deliver. Many clients come to us for complete solutions; from initial concepts through to delivery, while others may only want one or two aspects of what we can offer. We let our clients build their own package of services and then put the team together to ensure we deliver outstanding results.”

Now with more than 80 full-time staff members, the firm’s ambitions continue to grow, as Matthew confirms:

“Over the next 12 to 18 months we expect to continue to grow our clients and staff, growing from 80 staff today up to 100, helping us achieve our goal of a turnover of £50 million by 2022.”
