30 jobs lost after Carter Design Group goes into administration

A Leicestershire shop display specialist has gone out of business with the loss of 30 jobs

Market Harborough-based Carter Design Group has ceased trading, with BDO business restructuring partners Eddie Kerr and Graham Newton appointed joint administrators.

The company, a finalist in this year’s Leicester Mercury Business Awards, designed product displays for shops and retail outlets.

It had counted the likes of Accurist, Thorntons and Sekonda among its clients

The Market Harborough Company specialised in the design of product displays and point-of-sale materials for shops and retail outlets. The company ceased to trade upon the appointment of administrators and all 30 employees were made redundant.

The joint administrators have completed a sale of certain assets of the business, including the work in progress to an unnamed buyer.

Eddie Kerr, BDO Business Restructuring Partner, said: “Unfortunately, difficult trading conditions and a reduction in orders significantly affected the business, undermining its working capital position.

“The joint administrators are taking all necessary steps to mitigate losses to customers and, going forward, will seek to maximise recoveries for the benefit of all creditors.”
