Chesterfield-based precision machined components BG Engineering has introduced a new in-house pressure test and assembly service in the wake of acquisition of a High-Pressure Testing Facility next to its existing premises.
The test equipment includes a Resato High Pressure Technology System and Haskel Pressure Controller, which have both been specially adapted to enable BG Engineering to pressure test valves and other components, up to 700 bar pneumatic and 1000 bar hydrostatic.
The company has also recruited a specialist operator, who has extensive pressure testing knowledge and over 15 years’ experience in the design and testing of pressurised equipment, to manage the new operation.
The testing facility includes a complex leakage detection system and has a number of safety systems including oxygen monitoring, nitrogen extraction and interlocking controls. It is also equipped with overhead cranes that have a 10 tonne lifting capacity, and a two tonne handling crane which is situated within the high-pressure test room.
The equipment provides BG Engineering with the capabilities to run rigorous testing from outside of the test room, detect the smallest leakages and carry out strength and functionality testing of valves and pressure bearing products.

In addition to the new pressure testing and assembly facilities, the company has also acquired a paint spray paint booth and a wash plant.
BG Engineering has invested heavily over the years in the very latest CNC equipment, most recently on setting up a new apprentice training machining cell. BG Engineering has always strived to attain the highest standards and is currently working towards securing AS9100 accreditation to become an approved aerospace supplier.
