Vision Express completes the acquisition of Tesco Opticians

Jonathan Lawson, Vision Express CEO

A deal to acquire Tesco Opticians by GrandVision has completed today – paving the way for Vision Express to incorporate 209 stores into its wider network.

Following the green light from the Competitions and Markets Authority, Vision Express has now expanded its store estate to close to 600 stores across the UK and Ireland.

All Tesco Opticians employees are now part of the Vision Express team and existing customers will receive seamless eye health services.

Jonathan Lawson, CEO, Vision Express, said: “This is a landmark moment for Vision Express and we’re delighted to welcome 209 new stores into the Vision Express family.

“It’s significant for us because safeguarding sight has never been more important– yet research tells us that people aren’t having regular eye tests, despite half of all sight loss being preventable.

“This expansion will allow us to offer a thorough – and convenient – optical service to reach even more people, and we hope to convince them to make their sight a bigger priority, whilst also delivering good value for money from our extensive product range.”
