Swadlincote-based motorcycle suspension specialists K-Tech Suspension has recently expanded its premises with the leasing of an additional unit on Rawdon Business Park. With further investment being made into the infrastructure of both properties, the company will be able to benefit from enhanced manufacturing capabilities – a move which has been supported by NatWest.

Established in 2001, K-Tech Suspension manufactures, supplies and services motorcycle products through 20 distributors to over 30 countries around the world, including North America, Scandinavia, Asia, Australasia and mainland Europe. The company caters for customers from general motorcycle enthusiasts to professionals involved in the motorcycle racing series.

Due to recent success in selling its own branded products, as well as continued growth throughout the rest of the business, managing directors Chris Taylor and Ken Summerton felt it was time to expand the company’s premises. A unit became available in the same location as their original building, which led Taylor and Summerton to approach NatWest for funding support towards the cost of leasing the property – in addition to asset finance to help with the inside fittings.

This is the second time K-Tech Suspension has used the bank for lending, and over this time they have built a strong rapport with senior relationship manager Ben Lavin. Lavin was able to provide the company with a six figure loan and put Taylor in touch with Lombard, the asset finance arm of NatWest, who supplied further funding to help with the cost of the interior refurbishments of the buildings, IT, telephone systems and new tooling equipment.

Taylor said: “We have a great relationship with Ben, who visits us regularly and understands what we are trying to achieve. The expansion will enable us to develop the company further, with planned growth of 20 per cent over the next two years as we continue to source new overseas markets for our products. If we need assistance with funding, NatWest will be our first choice.”

Lavin added: “K-Tech Suspension is a dynamic business operating in an exciting market place. Throughout their 15 years in business, they have expanded their product range and established an international presence. The additional premises and improved infrastructure will be of great benefit to them and I look forward to working with Chris, Ken and the team as the company continues to flourish.”
